I've just tried this and it was lush...I couldn't ever successfully poach an egg before. Here's the tip I followed ;

MICROWAVED POACHED EGGS!!! Yes you heard right. Here's how....
1. Fill a mug 1/3 full with cold water.
2. Crack a free range egg carefully into the water being careful not to break the yolk.
3. Microwave on high for 1 minute.
4. Remove from the microwave and let it sit in the water for 20 seconds so the egg continues to set.
5. Lift your egg out of the water with a spoon. If you want it cooked more pop it back in the microwave for another 10 seconds.
6. Pop it on a piece of toast and enjoy your super easy poached egg!

kyles - got a good result cos like that couldn't get it right - however mine needed just a little over one minute - maybe a minute half to get the runny yolk - good tip.

You are supposed to prick the yoke before putting in the microwave and that is supposed to stop it exploding. I used to have a microwave poacher and it did work most of the time (but not always). I binned it, along with the poaching pouches and went back to just dropping the egg in a saucepan of boiling water.
They can be used in the oven and are good for baked eggs.
A few years ago my young nephew put an egg, still in its shell, into the microwave.

Took it out, put it in an egg cup, tapped the top and pebbledashed the kitchen ceiling :-)
My friend in Australia used to do boiled eggs in the microwave. We used to have them every morning. You wrap the egg in tin foil and put it in a mug of water so that it is submerged. Then microwave.
The more I read of this the happier I am that my favourite egg on toast is fried - 2 yolks and hardly any white, yum.

I must try the microwave method, I just fancy a poached egg now.
I also lifted the egg out with a teabag remover - clever me
I'll certainly try that. I love poached eggs and fail almost every time. I've added vinegar, followed every instruction in lots of books (including Delia's) and mostly they don't work. Roll on Sunday!

I use these little fellows and they do the job for me.
Dunelm Mills do them too.
Added to basket. I'm a sucker for trying things out :-)
Oh know...now I'm adding other stuff!
Good luck with them, Ummmm

I could never do poached eggs until I found these.....always got a rubbishy watery ribbony mess of egg white...yuk!
Mine always seem to work out for some reason. The only problem I find is egg white is hard to get off the pan. I crack my eggs into a ramekin first anyway so cracking into a bag is no difference.
