I read the book as a teenager, and found it very informative, and moving.

I have to say that I would enjoy re-reading it as an adult, having experienced mental illness and treatment as an in-patient in a psychiatric hospital -

I would probably find it even more informative and moving!

The book was also made into a movie in 1977 starring Kathleen Quinlan. I saw it on TV in the early 1980's and have been trying to rent it on video or DVD. It made a big impact on me and I'd love to see it again.
