i seem to have a real problem with memory recall. I will often dream facts as clear as day that i could never recall in normal life, so i know the information is somewhere locked inside my brain! The weird things is - i can remember any number of numeric usernames etc, but can't remember who was in or even what the latest film i've seen is about! Anyone know any way of improving memory recall?

Memory training is a multi-million pound industry - your local library will have a selection of training boooks that will assist you. the simple truth is, we remember everything we experience - the trick is training your mind to recall what your memory has stored. A simple technique is 'association' - linking on image with another of your choosing. It's quite easy to do - imagine you saw 'Lord Of The Rings' - srtart your association with 'ring' - think film = telephone, or visualise a crown with a ring above it - maybe not ideal examples, but with a little practice, you'll easily find symbols and numbers to associate, and with regular practive, your memory recall will improve.

Your comment about remembering some stuff that appears useless is very salient....a good analogy for the memory is to think of it like a filter....your filter is good at trapping numbers (same as me...can remember phone numbers from years ago that I never use anymore) but perhaps bad at placing names to faces (as i am)....I would recommend trying to join a pub quiz team as you will have a good incentive to try and remember things

Smoking pot does your short term memory no favours. Eating fish is apparently good for your brain and therefore your memory. Otherwise, practice also helps.
