Naomi - //andy-hughes, don't assume others share your own failings.//

I never assume anything.

// They don't. //

How do you know - is this something else you feel able pronounce on with a self-appointed degree of authority?

Have you studied this as well?
andy - don't very often agree with you, as I think you know, but I do this time (lol) !
Thanks chap.

I always enjoy a spirited debate, even with people whose views are entirely opposite to mine, and I often find that sooner or later we do find common ground - let's see if we can keep it up!!!
andy-hughes, // I never assume anything. //

Oh but you do - which is why you so often get that which you know nothing about wrong - but that aside and to answer your question, I have no authority to pronounce on this and I haven't pronounced. I've simply said that I own a gun and I don't believe people who acquire guns specifically for criminal purposes apply for licences.

Your sour grapes are showing again. Talk to someone else. I'm bored with this.

OK, let's call a halt on the sniping, you know we give up on it eventually -

but to make a serious point about your post re. gun ownership -

I entirely agree that there are vast numbers of sensible gun owners in the world, and I have no doubt that you are one of them.

But look at the case under discussion here - a young man whose parents have allowed him not only to possess a gun, but to sleep with it my his bed at night!

Now that sirely cannot be construed as sensible handling of deadly weapons, precisely because of the tragic outcome - this young man has shot his friend dead, unintentionally, but sadly, the friend is just as dead, whether he meant it or not.

And that is my argument against wholesale gun ownership - the 'frontier' attitude in modern America means that this kind of tragedy happens, and keeps on happening, and as a responsible gun owner, you must surely concede that this is a situation that needs to be addressed.
Andy...it is unlikely that you will get Naomi to admit that she doesn't know the ins and outs of everything. She is never wrong !
I've always found Naomi a delight. (and she laughs at my jokes, but then, if I say so myself, they're funny.)

duvebuddy - //I have to agree that Mikey and Andy are the exact opposite of Naomi. They are never right. //

Oooh, how wounding!!!
Andy...I agree that was really sharp ! Ooooo errrrr !

divebuddy - //Harsh but fair, I thought. //

On reflection ... LOL!
Owners of guns in this country keep them in locked cabinets inspected by the constabulary, they do not sleep with them at their bedside.
