Hello all, I was wondering if anybody had any hands on experience of moving to the UK from another European country. My boyfriend is Dutch and currently lives in Holland, but is looking to work and move to the UK. However, we understand there are many thing to take into account and many different things to sort out. I was hoping for some advice or experience from somebody who has made a similar move, somebody who can give us a few tips on where and how to get started. Thank you! :)

i'm sorry i don't have any experience. if your bf is an eu national, there shouldn't really be anything to sort out - he can work and live anywhere in the EU can't he?
The only thing to sort out would be his tickets
If he's looking for work in the UK he needs to set up his CV in English. All depends what kind of work he wants to do as to where to look. Once he's got a UK address he can open a bank account with a UK bank where his salary will be placed.
Apart from getting his relationship with the tax man sorted out (e.g. by getting a National Insurance number) there's no difference between working in London or working in Leiden:

Some information about opening a UK bank account. (This is from Barclays but the other High Street banks will have similar rules):

Thank you guys :) will have a read and look into stuffs :) if you know of anything else please let us know :)
Something minor to take into account is that, unless he has a job lined up in the UK, he might be better off to remain in Holland.

Nine per cent of under-25s in the Netherlands are looking for work, less than half the rate of the UK and the lowest in the EU. Overall the UK has 8.2% unemployment compared to Holland's 4.9%.
