Handy to go to with a 3-generational family. The rest depends on the Carvery concerned - most overcook the beef and lamb as part of the numbers game. I know of one very good one where the servers seek out the pink bits of meat if you ask (Whixley, sshhh!).

Thanks all. I can see the appeal for a multi-generational get together as on the whole a roast dinner pleases almost everyone, even if some suffer in silence with regard to the quality.

cooking a roast dinner for one can be pain, there is one not far from me that's quite good and i can have lots of roasties :-) i guess the downside would be the meat, i like rare roast beef and its always well done
I love a good carvery!

No matter how high I pile my plate, someone always piles higher and makes me feel better ;-)
Not keen unless you get a really top notch one.... This is one of the best I've been to.

I like having a break from cooking meals and a large variety of veg/meat to choose from, prices are good as well. I have tried M&S sandwiches, not much different to a tesco sarnie, they are what they are, factory prepared sandwiches.

The fact I don't have to cook is a big factor plus the choice in the meats, can pick as much or as little of the veg etc.
I like cooking a roast dinner. You can take all afternoon and drink at the same time!
I think it's purely the fact that it's a meal out and also gives you quality time with friends/family. From personal experience Toby Carveries are good, but generally I tend to go to pubs/restaurants that serve home cooked food
