Are these the jobs that our own 'work-shy' workforce will not have, or has the real reason why some prefer to employ foreign workers finally come to light?

Employing foreign workers is simple business sense, and business takes no account of the morality involved here.

It will be interesting to see how Ms Sturgeon handles this.

I suspect a typically distorted Daily Express report is involved here.

Firstly, unless they're physically installing components, there would be no need to issue any type of visas to overseas IT workers because, by its very nature, the job can be done from anywhere in the world.

Secondly, the report refers to the UK workers as being 'sacked' (thus implying that they were on the payroll of the Scottish Environment Agency) but later refers to them as 'contractors' (who will have no 'employee' rights anyway).

Either way, a public body seems simply to have been saving public money in this case. It is to be hoped that all Government departments and local authorities will look for similar savings wherever they can be found.
