I have a humax recorder and free view programmes. Lately, I find that lots of the stations state scrambled or no signal. BBC is okay but not much else. I am not able to record any of the programmes on the scrambled stations. Any help please. Bear in mind that I am quite thick regarding technology. Many thanks

So have I and mine's got no problems.
I can only suggest that you do a re-tune.

Retune.? I don't know how to do that. I think I did something once when a lots of stations appeared because the aerial was picking up of two transmitters. Is there a danger I will end up with nothing if I do this?

I just checked. I did an edit of channels
If there's a 'replace channels' option, rather than 'add' or 'edit' them, it's 'replace' that you need to use. (That wipes everything from the list and starts again).

If that doesn't work then, as the problem is clearly related to low signal strength, you need to check your aerial. (i.e. make sure that the wind hasn't knocked it out of position and that everything is plugged in properly). If you can get most channels OK a simple signal booster (from almost any large supermarket) should fix the problem. Otherwise you'll need to call in an aerial fitter.

All of the above assumes that the problem hasn't come about simply because your local transmitter is operating on reduced power (as is often necessary to enable engineering work to take place). Check here:

Buenchico, I really appreciate your answer. My aerial is fairly new, and I can get bbc, itv. But not channel,4. However, I checked the link you gave me and it seems like there's a lot of work going on in the south west. I would be scared to fiddle around with channels because I would not know what I was doing. I will hold on at present to see if work on the transmitters is affecting my TV. Many thanks to you xx
