Obviously he's ultimately responsible but he must have some right numpties under him. If it had stopped when they discovered the problem I would probably have said no, it's not a resignation issue. But they let a further 288 out after they knew there was a problem, how can that possibly be allowed to happen unless it's by design? He should go because of that.
I think he should do the honouable thing and resign. That is what politicians used to do when their public credibility had been jeopardised. And in this case it was not as if the Home Office hadn't been warned on several occasions by reputable bodies that things were going pear-shaped and needed reform. Now I'm afraid all of them want to hang onto their ministerial salaries and perks and all costs. Whatever happened to going into politics to make your country a better place?" No wonder so many people feel disenfranchised and don't vote, no matter which party they used to support. These antics are doing incredible damage to our democracy because they are causing all politicians to be tarred with the same brush, when in actual fact some of our MP's work incredibly hard on their constituents' behalf and and are cringing at what is happening in the higher echelons.

Isn't it a shame some MPs don't read and take note of your thoughts.
I don't think they're allowed to, are they raysparx? Don't they have to sign something when they're first elected to say they will ignore the public's opinion and wishes?

of course he should go.......and so should Prescott......these people are telling us how to live our lives, but it seems the principal for politicians is 'do as i say, not as i do'. Once an 'ordinary' chap or chappess becomes an MP they cease to be ordinary. Their world is no longer the real world that the rest of us live in.

On further thought when someone who is banned from driving is caught and taken before the courts another ban is usually the punishment!!!!!! so Mr Clarke is probably staying in his job on that basis.

It seems to me that politicians think they have a charmed life and can do no wrong in their eyes no matter how many wrongs they do in their political and private life. It would be a good idea to vote for any candidate in an election other than the sitting MP. Our whole system needs a good sort out and if MPs no longer could take their 'career' for granted then maybe they would listen to their constituents and act to serve them and not themselves.......

rant over....* climbs down from soapbox*

Hey lou, get back up there on the soap box, youv'e got my vote.

He should go but first he should be hung up by his bits and roasted alive.

I would happily light the fire.

It'd save a hell of a lot of time if instead of them all going one by one,the entire party left all together, problem solved!
If the man at the top,who took us into a war on the basis that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and it was later found that it was a total lie and due to the lie a 150,000 people have died, does not feel the need to resign or even say sorry, then why should Clarke go.

So are you really agreeing they should all go then Dom Tuk. If you are I could not agree more

Good riddence to the whole hypocrytical bunch. I for one am totally sick of this attidude of do as I say not as I do.

Prescott is a bubling fool. He's only there to appease the unions left who have had their party hijacked by the liberal elite.

If they go though we're going to see a few coffe shops shutting in Islington hahaha

He should go, but he's already said he won't, he'll just wait a couple of months to let the furor die down, regardless of the fact that he said he wanted to put things right, then carry on obeying his masters orders, selling his country out.
Just think about it - people like you lot actually vote for this bunch of lying, hypocritical, immoral, dishonest, incompetent morons. Why? There must be a better alternative!
Question Author
Agree with you 100% mike, trouble is all of them no matter what party are corrupt, lying, scheming, moneygrabbing, idle wasters who are forever telling us we should behave and then doing the opposite,I have no time for any of them. full stop!!!
My MP seems friendly and hard-working; sorry everyone else's are such beasts. As for Clarke, all this goes back years before he was handed the job, so I'm not sure he should carry the can for it. I can of course think of several other reasons why he should go.
Raysparx - you're totally wrong. Charles Clarke is not Fozzy Bear; he's Fungus the Bogeyman .... obviously.
