The other day I decided to check how much space I had left on my laptops hard drive. I was amazed to discover that I had used 25 gig (cap. 27gig). My question is this: What is taking up all the space? I can only account for about 10 gig (i.e Music, programs and games).

What OS are you running? If it's XP, run the disk clean up wizard. Temporary files can use up a hell of a lot of space. Also, check that any AV software hasn't got buckets of files in quarantine. Lastly, make sure it's up to date & scanning frequently, as viruses often grow & multiply
empty the recycle bin. delete the temproary internet files folder
If you are using ME or XP, Restore points will take up alot of space. As above clear out temp files and see if it make a difference. Some files and folders will be hidden.
