It is one MPs opinion. The Mail describes him as a prominant MP, but sadly, I have never heard of him. Though I do think there is some truth in the claim. The Westminster Elite is out of touch with working people. But the problem is in all the Parties, not just Labour.

Trouble is some folk class anyone living north of Watford as being a 'Northerner'

I'm originally from up north (S.Cumbria) and agree that certain northern accents make folk sound thick but then again so do certain other accents from other parts of the UK
