I bought a decent 7" tablet in Sainsbury's about a year ago. It was reduced to just £59.99. Although their normal prices are quite a bit dearer than that, they still have some good products at reasonable prices. So perhaps you could put your £40 towards a tablet? There are plenty of tablet newbies around here who can help you, Silka.
PS: Look for the '@Tab'brand. They're cheap but well-reviewed.

Do you have to have a contract, I prefer pay as you go ?
Cheaper tablets generally only work on wifi, rather than the 3G or 4G mobile phone networks. (Those that can connect to mobile phone networks tend to be far more expensive). So you need to be in range of a wifi signal to get internet access with them (but, of course, you can still play videos and music tracks, play games and do lots more, without internet access). With free wifi becoming increasingly available these days (e.g. in Wetherspoon's pubs, McDonald's, major railway stations, Costa, larger branches of Asda and Tesco, etc, etc) that's not much of a problem for many people.

Sorry Chris I really do not know about these things
Why not buy lots of food goodies, chocs, mince pies etc and donate it to an old peoples home or day centre.
Are your vouchers from Sainsbury's 'double up' offer which you have to spend quite quickly, and if so watch out because you are limited to what you can buy with them, As I read it you cannot buy food and only certain wine, but electrical goods and Tu clothing are available. I could not see that I would be able to use my Nectar points if I used their 'double-up' offer, so I have kept normal points to use on food.
Lucky you silka. Enjoy it and spoil yourself. xx
christmas goodies !
My oh gets Sainsburys vouchers as his Christmas gift from work and we always stock up on cleaning products as they 'don't eat owt' as my Mum used to say!
