Please help! Have found lots of websites for to download the old BBC game 'Citadel', but I need a 'BBC emulator' (whatever that is) Anyway, I've tried loads of fifferent emulators from loads of different websites, and I can't open them. They all have at least one file that isn't found by my computer. So I have 2 questions: Does anyone know how I can successfully download the Citadel game and/or emulator? Question 2 - When I try to install the plentiful zipped files, there are loads of them. What is the correct way to 'unzip' files? All I do is double click the '.exe' file in Winzip. Sorry for the hugely long question - please help!!!!!

Monkzie, you need to extract all of the files in the .zip file to a folder on your hard drive first, rather than running the executable within the .zip file, which won't be able to detect any other needed files for installation. Just click 'extract' on the Winzip menu and then you can put the files in an existing folder or create a new one. Once finished, then you can click the .exe in the folder to set up the emulator and it should install.

A couple of BBC Micro emulators here:

Just tried it, works perfectly! Let us know if you get stuck.

Hi Aquariel, have extracted files in the .zip file onto a new folder on my hard drive by clicking 'extract'. All worked fine (btw, when saved, the .exe file disguised itself as a picture with no dot. ending) Anyway, clicked on the .exe file and it opened a new small window which was black (seemed like MS-DOS, with flashing cursor, saying BASIC on the line above. What do I type? Tries RUN, but didn't work. AAAAGH!! What do I do now? By the way, I went to your emulator website and downloaded the version for windows. What have I done wrong?

You haven't done anything wrong Monkzie! If you can see the 'BASIC' text with the flashing prompt, then you have the emulator running ok. Have you also extracted the citadel.img file from the citadel.zip file? If so, then to run it, do this:

In the Emulator's File menu, select "Load Disc 0" - now you have to find the citadel.img file you extracted. Once you have selected it and clicked ok, the file will be loaded. To run it, just press SHIFT and BREAK together (BREAK is also the PAUSE key).
