Can anyone tell me how to make mpeg files smaller without losing quality?

I dont think you can.By reducing the size of a file you would also be reducing the quality.If you are trying to fit a video file onto a DVD but the video is too big, there are loads of programs that will reduce the file size to fit a DVD, but the quality also gets reduced.It depends on how much over the 4.7 GB limit your file is.For example, if your file was 4.8GB, the reduction in quality would be hardly noticable, but if you file was say 7GB, then I would imagine he quality would be considerably reduced.
