I'm trying to remember the name of a tv programme which had the theme tune "Aye-yi-yi, the beat is crazy, Soukous, soukous is everywhere...". I think it was something to do with diamond smuggling in South Africa. Any help would be appreciated.

The only show I know of to have Sucu Sucu as its theme is Top Secret starring William Franklyn, but this is rather earlier than the period you suggest, dating back to 1961. The original version of the tune, taken from the series, was by the Laurie Johnson Orchestra, although there were no fewer than five hit versions of it that year, including a vocal version by aristocratic Danish duo Nina and Frederick.
