Who had family serving in the trenches? My maternal Grandad was, and thankfully survived with frail lungs all the rest of his life after he was gassed there.

My grandfather returned strangely eccentric....I loved it when I was a child.. it was amusing....til I grew up and knew why....

My father in law returned.....but physically very damaged and eventually died as a result.....
