2004 Ford Focus C-Max ~ Can I 'reset' My Car Stereo?

Hey all,

I recently purchased a 2004 C-Max but the stereo doesn't work. I want to look at everything I can do first before giving up and paying someone to fix it!

It switches on and I get the options to search radio stations etc on the display but nothing is coming out of the speakers. Not even static noise. Also, it won't let me change the date/time.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I've already checked the wiring to the speakers and they all seem good. I was thinking maybe a fuse but wasn't sure how to check that out, or even if the stereo/speakers have a fuse they run off! So I'm wondering if it's possible to completely reset the stereo and see if that works....I'm just not sure how to do that either!

Any help appreciated!!

By the way, it's still the original factory installed stereo

If you unplug it, it'll reset. There are no fuses on the speaker side.
If, when you press the tuner 'seek' button, it locks on a station and there's still no sound, the chances are that the internal amp has gone.
It's more cost effective to fit an aftermarket unit or a second hand Ford one than going for the repair option.
If you buy a Ford unit, make sure you get the code.
