I've been commissioned by this foreign geezer to carry out a feasibility study about whether there should be another chat topic re-introduced. Ignoring for the moment all the issues, what d'you really think?

Do you think that if it was called something other than chat people would be less " touchy" about the whole thing. I missed the whole chatterbank episode. However it seems that (just like in the real world ) some people have not mastered the art of banter,I have lots of siblings so it takes a lot to upset me! I can disagree with someones view but uphold their right to have that view. To me that is what makes the world a more interesting place. If there was a spot to drop in and say hello would that be a bad thing ? ..... the more serious members could just elect to 'swerve' the whole thing. It's a win/ win all round!

'Sense' sound good too me. AB Is new to me. Only been on couple of months. Seems peops come N go all the time. Never been on a chat site yet - although im opn to suggestions! God no - Gonna be bombarded now!

Wouldn't the solution be to have a live chatroom on the site? The half dozen (as Kazminx so rightly puts it :-P ) who want to can chat freely in there, and the rest can use the original site for more "serious" topics.

That way, serious types don't have to see the chat unless they want to, and the chatterers can still contribute non-chatty stuff to the original site; everyone wins!
hi everyone, I honestly dont think that a chat section will be re-introduced after all the problems that went on in chatterbank. There is a great chatsite where quite a few ab members go. Check it out here We arent supposed to post the link so hopefully everyone will see it before it gets taken off

Thank you for posting the link pixi - in the context of showing a place for people to chat with other ABers it's fine once in a while, so I can't think that AB Ed would have any objection.

The whole chat thing was tried on here in a separate category last year, but moderation took up far more time and resources than the site management were prepared to allow, hence ChatterBank being scrapped. There'll always be people discovering AB who want to get to know each other, but posting reams of spurious questions just leads to irritation in the long term, particularly for people with genuine Qs in the likes of Body & Soul whose questions get bumped off the front page - most people don't tend to wade through categories from what I've seen.

AB Ed's allowed us to put up email addresses at our own risk, so surely links to the likes of Cerescape and Froggers_World can be placed at the head of B&S and Suggstions on a similar basis. If it clears the decks on AB and people have that place to go to where they can say and do what they wish then shouldn't that suit everyone?
