I think everybody knew about Cyril Smith but they all did nothing. Shame on them all.

Some tried janbee, as I have posted before. But most of those that did try were either ignored, punished, or moved sideways by their employers, such as the local Police. As you say, shame on the lot of them. Some are still lying today, especially ex-Cabinet Ministers.

We must keep trying Naomi. When we see some ex-Cabinet Members being dragged before this Enquiry, we will have come a long way. I am not convinced that large scale paedophile activities have stopped. Almost every day, new cases are being reported in the press, not just the usual suspects like Scout Leaders, Vicars etc. We now see this crime within the ranks of the Armed Forces, Schools and even Hospitals. Bishops have been know to be guilty as well.

It would be difficult to say that there is a fool-proof way of stopping paedophilia, as it has been around as long as man has been on the earth, but we should, and can do something about the institutional cover-ups. Smith and Savile got away with their crimes because of a combination of being protected by those in Authority, like the Police, and the culture of shooting the whistle blowers, rather than listening to them.

Everything should now be out in the open. I would like to see this current Enquiry made into a Public Enquiry, so that that we can see what is happening. The more public it is, the less chance of it being swept under yet another carpet.

Ex-Cabinet Members, Scout Leaders, Vicars, the Armed Forces, Schools and even Hospitals and Bishops have been know to be guilty as well.

Now I know not a mention of Asian Child abuse gangs.

Nothing strange about my choice whatsoever AOG. You will have noticed that I have made many posts on Cyril Smith and this is another one. The Enquiry I am interested in is the one chaired By Fiona Woolfe ( Ignore BRUCE mistake above ! )

Taken from the BBC link in September, when Woolfe replaced Butler-Schloss :::

"The inquiry, which was set up in July, was prompted by allegations that figures in Westminster and Whitehall were implicated in covering up child sex abuse, and that police and other authorities did not properly investigate prominent offenders such as Jimmy Savile and Cyril Smith"


So that is what this thread is all about. Related to the recent case of abuse in Rotherham but separate from the older abuse on the other side of the Pennines. If you want to start another thread about the abuse of girls by asian gangs, go ahead, and I will be glad to make my contribution. But don't try to hijack mine.

AOG, it's an entirely different issue. Read in depth reports on both and see if you can spot the difference.

Why not compromise - you can raise all the posts you like where the accused are Asian, leaving mikey4444 with the Rotherham cases, which have a different social impact, (because they involve an abuse of power by influential people).

I'm sure that if any Asians appear in these stories, mikey4444 will give you a 'heads up' so you can post your own thread.

How does that sound?

I'm just suggesting this because if everyone followed your example of concentrating on Asian sex gangs, the News section of AB might get a little tedious.

Anyway, only a suggestion - make of it what you will.
