Bye Bye Vulcan For 2014 :(

Just got home from seeing the wonderful Vulcan bomber taking part in the "Cold War Tour" this afternoon flying over several RAF bases in the Midlands. We saw it over RAF Cottesmore in Rutland (now Kendrew Army barracks) we had a brilliant view as it screamed in right overhead, circled the runway then up up up in the sky turning to come back to us, loads of us spectators standing in a nearby field, for a second photo call! Last outing for 2014 apparently ..... thanks XH558 for all the pleasure you bring us, long may you fly in the skies over us!

An...1953......took a girl for a "bike ride" towards Helpston Nr.Peterborough, when we were stopped, held and interrogated by the R.A.F Regiment ( not ALL the regiment but quite a number LOL)

Reason: a Vulcan from R.A.F Wittering which was still on the secret list had crashed in the area.

it wasn't wonderful in the 60s doing night time low level exercise flights, it was a blasted nuisance shaking the roof tiles,
still prefer the Victor myself
