My sister and I walked for an hour on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 30 minutes on Wednesday. We have also cut out all the junk food and sugar from our diets in an attempt to lose weight. When we walk it's quite a brisk walk and we'll try and do about 5 miles. My question is, if I kept this up, what kind of weight could I expect to lose in 1 month?

I'd say you'd do better than I have, unless decorating and cleaning count as exercise? But I think it all depends on how overweight you are in the first place. I think it's harder to lose, the less you have (if that makes sense) x
Good luck though, Milly! x

Thanks Whisky. I got weighed the other day and was shocked! I knew I wasn't light but I didn't realise it was that much. I'm a size 16 and really want to get to a 12 by the summer. plus my sister said she would take me on a shopping spree if I did that so I do have incentive. Just would like to know if that is easily acheiveable with what I'm doing really. (sorry for crap spelling, not really paying attention).

I'm sure you'll do it, keep me updated. My best diet tip is Skinny Cow ice cream, just like the real thing but only 90 calories for a mint choc chip lolly! Um yum x

HI milly,

It is not so much the walking that will cause weight loss, it is using more energy than you consume. You could work out how many calories you burn in your walk, but basically, you need to make sure the rest of your food does not exceed the calories you have burned. If you are eating 3 meals a day- not snacking, and avoiding sugar, then I am sure you will lose weight.

I would also suggest that you don't weigh yourself more than once a week. Weight fluctuates daily with hormones and water retention etc, and if you have been really good, and not lost any weight, it is very easy to chuck it all in in despair. You will FEEL so much better anyway, so what you are doing is great.

Now that sounds yummy! Maybe that can substitute the cadburys cream eggs that seem to be everywhere I go and looking incredibly delicious!

I've been doing the same as you milly, and since 10th Jan I have lost 10 pounds. I do a dance class on a Tuesday and try to do a brisk 5 mile walk twice before the next one (usually on a Thurs and a Sat). Food has been difficilt because I absolutely adore chocolate, but I don't eat any choc, sweets, cakes, or crisps now (Sooo boring!!) If I do they are low calorie ranges. M&S do tiny choc bars (milk, plain or crunchy orange) which are less than 99 cals. Only have these as a treat now and then!

I only eat weightwatchers bread, only have 2 pieces of potato with my dinner (but fill my plate with veg) and now only have 1 yorkshire instead of 2 or 3. (What a sacrifice!!)

My main problem is when watching TV cos I like to nibble snacks but can't find anything apart from carrot sticks that are low in cals. Most healthy things like nuts, raisins, sultanas etc can be packed with calories, so you can soon tot up 3 choc bars worth of cals without knowing. Anyone any suggestions on this?

btw where can I buy this Skinny Cow ice cream - sounds brill!

Good luck milly
