So Tesco is losing money, I'm not surprised. A leg of lamb in New Malden this week was £27!!! Time for a serious price drop or I will be going to Lidl more often ...

Joeluke, see my 1700 post, I guess you missed it as well, I'll add a ;-) next time if that would help you!
profits down by a billion pounds? i would have spent all afternoon trying to explain that to the man who ran the shop on the corner years ago
Well if you're adding things to your posts, Baldric....along with the ;-) can I have two kisses and a hug please?....'Tis a funny day.... :-(

Thanks, Baldric...just what I need today...I can now go and prick and ping my Aldi ready meal with a spring in my step......♥
Food is cheaper in real terms than it has ever been. Fresh milk can be bought for 25p a pint, fresh chickens three for a tenner.

In 1971, milk was 6p a pint whilst a pint of bitter was 11p. Today a pint in a pub is about £2, 8 times more than a pint of milk.
A loaf of bread was 10p, one penny cheaper than bitter. Now it's half the price.
A bunch of bananas was 18p - I bought a bunch of bananas for 20p this week, albeit in the 'reduced' section.

The cost of petrol and housing has risen dramatically, no arguing that, but food and clothing are very much cheaper in real terms.
