Anybody else stayed there?

Reactions?

I'm having a lot of memories re-triggered and it hasn't changed much. What you do not get is the sense of smell in and out of the hotel...Mumbai is not the most fragrant of cities in a pleasant sense.

5* hotels were equivalent to our 3* "They pay staff a pittance and treat them like slaves. Woe betide a staff member who upsets a guest, their very life is at stake" How do you know that- have you had an indepth discussion with the management regarding the staff T&Cs?
Yes, and heard them scream at being caned. Horrible
?
In my youth I couldn't afford to stay there (wouldn't have wanted to anyway) so I stayed at the Salvation Army Hostel just round the corner, sharing my bed with bed bugs and my room with a defected Russian Spy called George. George and I spent many hours sitting exchanging tales in a very good neighbourhood bar, drinking cool beer (Cobra I think) and eating freshly made potato crisps.
I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn't understand why one person kept referring to it as Bombay when it is now Mumbai though.
Good on you, Khandro......MrG would stay there and others like it when he was in India.....

I'd have been with you and George in the Hostel.....☺...xxx
