When I try to watch avideo/DVD on the computer the movement is not fluid, being jerky and still for some little time. Has anyone any idea why? Thanks in anticipation.

Try playing the DVD on a different programme, Ive had the same problem, it worked for me, I just cant remember which programme I used, lots out there free of charge.
Also make sure you have enough RAM and you have nothing running in the background.

Should have said via internet, not DVD player
How do you watch a DVD over the internet?

If you just mean watching a video on youtube etc, possible down to your internet speed.
It sounds like you either don't have the processor speed or the download speed or both.
A problem with download speed usually results in "waiting" with a symbol on the screen, rather than jerky movement. I suspect it's more likely to be your processor - is it an old computer?
