Recently I have been receiving calls with number id not known from a guy with a foreign accent claiming to be ringing me from microsoft in California. He says that my computer has been downloading lots of stuff without my knowledge. He had my name and everything. I hung up on him. But he has been leaving messages on and off for days. I have no idea what he is on about. I gave no info just listened and said I don't believe you then hung up. What is this? The latest scam?

Yes well used scam
It's a scam! Don't give him any information at all and don't follow any instructions he may give you. Tell him you don't have a computer and hopefully he will just go away.

You did the right thing hanging up.
Ignore him. There is no way he can know what's on your PC. it's a well known scam. They will try to take over your PC and charge you for the privelege

Thanks all. Thought it was but wanted to make sure
As others have said, it's a scam that has been going round for ages. Nobody can possibly know what's going on on your computer. Best answer is to say you haven't got one, and hang up....
Basically, these scammers will get to the point where they ask for an up front fee for something. Advanced fee scams (Slang = 419 scammers) , so avoid any similar operators.
