Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

This month we would love your low calorie breakfast ideas, thanks to OG. After watching a couple of semi-scary TV programmes this week about how bad our diet is in general some fresh ideas would be welcomed :-).

One programme even suggested that going back to a traditional FUll English is a good idea, less sugar and processed carbs etc!! Not sure if I have time for that every morning.

This sounds yum though:

Let us know how you start your day a low-calorie way.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

Good morning all, Now I can say it, I've lost just over a stone since January and have one more to go. I imagine it will be the hardest. Today I am going to buy a pair of trainers with the hope that they will help this aching heel problem I have. I have seen that it was easier to loose weight when I went for a brisk walk...(well brisk for me) every day.

:-p
I can see your halo glowing from here Maydup!
Unfortunately I can't pretend to have a glowing halo Xstitcher, hence calling in here, its a bit like confession! But I am drinking plenty of water ..... and I am dealing with the heat much better this summer than last, having lost a bit of weight over the months.

Well done this week by the way and congratulations on your new lighter self.
Good morning all,
I'm down two pounds. This heat wave has also stripped me of my appetite.
Morning all I think the heat has done it for me too as 2lb down .Well done xstitcher.
Well done you two. No change for me but that's OK in a way, because it does mean I have maintained over my holiday. We were self catering and ate plenty of salads and veggies in the evenings but there were also a few naughty moments here and there. Well it wouldn't be a holiday without a portion of chips and an ice cream would it?!

Good for you three. Keep it up.
How about thee OG?
I'm not so bad, thank you for asking. Have a few days off to relax and get a few things done. Had a healthy pot of olives, tomato, and feta for tea. Afterwards read the label. 526 calories !!!
Its the feta that done it lol
Sounds so Mediterrean and summery OG. I think we'll have grated horse radish in rolled ham slices with sliced tomatoes and asparagus tonight.
Well done to keep your weight stable while on holiday Maydup. I think that is quite an achievement.
Well I blame you lot.
Asda assured me it was chosen by you !
Nice try OG!
I know it is very early days and as I have only joined your wee club this week - can I tell you that I have been very sensible these past 3 days and this a.m. I have lost 2lbs - (I am going to the toilet fantastically)

I have completely changed the way I am eating.

No white bread - just 2 rounds of brown a day

Hardly any butter - I used to put it on in lumps

Porridge with fruit (Breakfast)

Sandwich with Chicken and Lettuce (Mid-pm)

Salad for tea (at 6.30 pm or 7.00 pm)

Tonight - Stir Fry with cod.

No beer. For the first time in a long time I can PULL IN my stomach a tiny bit.

Also PLJ (pure lemon juice) in water. I used this many years ago - it apparently cuts the fat.

Hopefully next Wednesday - will have more lbs off. JjCon

Well done you Jennyjoan. I was talking to my doctor the other day about loosing weight and she said that two pounds a month was good! She said that if you can keep that regularly it means you are eating properly and won't be tempted so easily to go back to bad habits.
If you have any questions just ask or quite often you can google the answer. There is always somebody here who will try and help out.
Well done JJ. Your diet puts mine to shame, which is why I'm probably not making progress any more. That said I am looking for good habits I can live with after a target is achieved. So easy to slip back again I found. I think I'd be unlikely to live with your diet permanently.
Well done JJ, that's a fantastic acheivement.

A couple of tips from me to help ring your changes.

Have some Total 0% yoghurt in the fridge. Try it with strawberries or raspberries and a tiny squirt of honey when your sweet tooth rears its ugly head.

And buy a packet of rice cakes. I eat these instead of bread for lunch with the sandwich filling on top and a side salad. Low fat cream cheese with raddish and red pepper for example. Mmmmm. Or low fat spead and marmite for a quick snack.

Onwards and downwards, good luck for Wednesday!
Your tips are good for all of us Maydup.
Yes Maydup you do have to have a holiday treat and you know how to get back on track l

Jennyjone you certainly look to be on the right track now . Have you tried a small glass of unsweetened glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice in the morning this helps to dissolve fat but do check as with some medication it is not allowed . It works for me .i just need to get back on track .
