I need to unlock my mobile as I'm chamging networks. Is it ok to use an internet service for this or would you recommend brining it to a shop (other than an O2 shop as they won't do it!!)?

Are you sure it need's unlocking to start? most contract purchased phones are unlocked these days...

If it's a contract phone and locked then you provider is obliged to unlock it at the end of your contract (they may charge a small fee)

Otherwise.. I'd go to a shop (market stall)... at least then you can see it really is unlocked before paying anything.
Agree with chuck, I unlock many of my phones and always go to a market stall or shop and make them try another SIM in it before I pay!

It won't recognise the replacement Tesco Sim, yet an older phone of mine will. The O2 logo appears when I switch it on. O2 shop wouldn't entertain me despite having paid over the odds for years.
I have used :-

to unlock a HTC Wildfire S. It worked for me!
I should add, that you will need another sim card to carry out the process of unlocking your phone.
Got mine from ASDA for free!
adsa mobile is the cheapest network and they use o2 network so no need to unlock it for them
Tesco also use the O2 network - but you do still need to unlock.

If you have completed your contract period with O2, they must provide you with an unlock code if you ask.
