Over here professional sportspeople have been banned from their sport for much lesser sins. It sends a message to other sportspeople and the community at large that that sort of behavior will not be tolerated.

Minimum wage means he would be still be subsidised by the taxpayer.

Saying he should only do menial, low paid jobs is an insult to the many honest and decent people who do such jobs.

We have a convicted murderer in the acting profession who has done very well out of the BBC and celebrities with all manner of convictions who continue to work in the public eye.

Surely an offender who is convicted, serves his sentence and then continues to be, or becomes, a successful and productive member of society is the aim of our justice system?

Ok so why not ban bus drivers who've commited crime from being bus drivers again. Surely this would send a message to other bus drivers and the community at large that that sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.

If a bus driver was convicted of off duty drunken driving his career behind the wheel would be over.

Playing the role of Dirty Den, yes.
But take the case of the teacher who ran away to France with an under age girl. When he's served his time can he expect to return to teaching?
No, because he had a duty of care towards his pupils which he breached.
But Sandy, you aren't comparing like with like - a Teacher has to pass stringent criteria to work with children , a footballer doesn't have restrictions following a crime of this type.

It will be interesting to see whether the fans agree with the managements decision here.
sandyRoe, Leslie Grantham is a convicted murderer. He was sentenced to life for shooting a taxi driver in the head in 1967 and was released in 1977.
There is no reason why that teacher can't teach adults.
