Hello, Was wondering if anyone could help? My Oranda Bungle has a lump on his head, it started off quite small but is getting bigger - it resembles a cauliflower like growth! All other signs on him are normal and he's still eating as if he's got a bottomless belly! any suggestions - cheers.

could be 'cotton wool' growths-possibly. try anti- bacterial no.9 and even though that may not work it contains a booklet explaining different symptoms and treatent to use.
i meant TREATMENT!
Is it a young Oranda, because that's what their head looks like. As they get older, their head does resemble a cauliflower. Some are quite large. Sorry if I have mis-understood.

Bungle is 2 years old and 4" long and has always been in good health. It's only in the last few weeks that a growth has appeared on his head. His head does resemble a crash helmet but it's the cauliflower looking growth that's growing on one side of his head that's worrying - it's also a slightly different colour. The cap of his head is orange but the growth is a lot lighter. His fins have developed splits but i've treated this and they're improving. Also do the required regular water changes and check water quality, everything is in the normal ranges. I'm at a loss as to what's wrong with him, he's my wifes pet and she's really worried about him - and also she driving me mad!
One of my Oranda's wen (the cauliflower part of the head) was bright orange and now it looks like an orange lolly after you have sucked all the juice out. It has gone quite opaque looking. Could yours just be changing colour if the fish is healthy otherwise. Just a thought.

thanks maggie01 but Bungle's growth is growing out of his crash helmet, it's an outgrowth from the head. It's all very confusing because other than that he appears quite healthly. I suppose I could describe the size to a cotton bud tip that's growing out of his head. :-(

Cotton wool like growths can be just a regrowth of tissue try looking in aquatic shops or books for oranders with the same thing or discribe it to an expert at a good aquatic shop.
