I keep getting a message saying ''outdated version of Java detected , Update now!''
When it happens it takes over the entire screen and I have to turn off and reboot to get rid of it. Is this a scam or is there a problem with Java?

It was ok for a while but it has just started again. This time it ''suggests '' you update.

I realise that I may outwear my welcome on this thread.. However, I am still of the opinion that Java is something which most people can do without. Ok, it is required for by some sites, but, unless they are specialised sites such as are used by Methyl and other such Techies, Java will mainly be required to play certain 'on-line' games and a question will then arise as to how safe are the sites concerned. Some gaming sites are responsible for a lot of malware.

Hans.

methyl in the tools / add ons i have real player there was another couple of things and i have removed them

first of all went in control panel and uninstalled all that had java in the name

went in firefox tools / add ons and there were 3 things real player which i need and speed up and i can't remember the other but had the option of removing them

so just clicked removed and removed the two but left real player on

cleared history cookies and things in control panel

shut down and then restarted computer

then ran malwarebytes which i do at least twice a day

that showed all clear

since being back on the ad has not come back up on the screen
