After just one glass of red wine, and a nip of whiskey in my coffee, I am ready to commit homicide. Why is this? I wasn't always like this, and other people can become pleasantly mellow when they drink. Not me. I could fight for Ireland after only a small amount of alcohol.

In vino veritas. Many of us disguise our real selves behind a mask of civility. After a few drinks the mask can slip.
It's commonly known that alcohol is a depressant drug rather than a stimulant.
I have had to give up alcohol due to the fact it gives me serious heart palpitations. I wasn't a big drinker but did enjoy a nice glass of wine but had to make a choice. It isn't so bad not drinking. As they say it takes 3 weeks to create a habit and 3 weeks to break one. Get past the first week or so and you won't miss it. It's just the idea of not having it that upsets you at this time.
