Can anyone tell me how to delete messages out of the private message section of Facebook. I had many conversations with a friend who has since died, his wife shared the same message box and I feel it would be insensitive to carry on with all the messages still there. Hope this makes sense.

You can't remove them from your late friend's inbox I'm afraid (if that is what you are asking).

His wife would now be the only person to be able to delete them.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.

Thank you for that and for your condolences. How would she delete them which is what I will tactfully suggest she does.
If she goes into her Facebook inbox she will see a list of all the conversations he has had.

She should then click on your conversations which will open them up.

At the top right hand side she should see a button called Actions.

Click that and a drop down menu will open, select the option for delete messages.

She will then get the option to select the messages to be deleted and then click delete.
