oops - sorry Jeza...

Urinary Tract Infection = UTI
Question Author
Does that mean Doc and Anti -bi's?
Men can get Cystitis too and it may be his meds adding to the cause, mention it yes.
Question Author
Thanks, I'll ring tomorrow.
in UTI's the urine is invariably alkaline and not acid ,although we do not know from your post the acidity or otherwise.

Has mic got a catheter in situ, is he incontinent of either urine or faeces and is he diabetic?

I assume that the excoriated skin is around his genitals and upper thighs.

May not be a big deal, but ring your GP, or better still practice nurse or District Nurse (if they still have them) as just hygienic attention to the skin area may be all that is required.
I agree with sqad- "normal" urine will burn the skin if it's there long enough. Ask GP for creams to protect and soothe the area and just keep him as clean and dry as possible xx
Jeza if you can obtain some 50/50 cream & "stoma paste" or "icthtopaste" a mixture of both applied to skin is a very good barrier - as is cavilon spray or sticks to protect the undamaged skin...we use it alot! (Prescription)

It will burn though regardless :0( ... Not sure if a cathater is an option or not! X
