We will shortly be setting up a website when we start trading in our new venture, this venture may be multi faceted and may require a few different web sites.

Ive never built a web site and know very little about it or how to host it?

maybe find someone to build the website for us for a small fee where maybe they could also have room to play with their own website stuff on our server.

Im just toying with the idea really. What do you reckon?

Do you mean a server in your own home or business?

Others may have better answers than me, but I would say no, dont have your own server.

If you have your own server then you will have to make sure the bandwidth on your broadband line is enough to cope with the extra traffic (you will also have to tell your ISP you are hosting a server on it as you will need a fixed ip address I think).

Also you will be resposible for the security on the server, as well as doing the backups.

If you get someone else to host it they are responsible for the bandwidth, the security, and the backups, leaving you to worry only about the web site.

You get what you pay for. If you rely for business on the website you may want to consider forking out for a professional site designer, not cheap but well worth it. These people will also often offer to maintain your site and find a suitable host.

If your living depends on it, don't skimp on your site as it is your business' frontage which will give your customers an impression of your integrity and professionalism.

There are a lot of turkeys out there offering to build websites. at low cost. You get what you pay for ... if you are lucky.
If you are new to the hosting field, It is better to choose a reliable web host who has all your requirements. For example, you can visit http://www.xnynz.com/ from where you can get website builder to design your own website with just drag and drop controls, servers at low cost, hosting space, domain names etc. This web host is low in cost and high in support.
