Quetta earthquake, May 1936.

My dad was injured in the earthquake while serving in Northern India as a gunner in the Royal Artillery.

Would he have received a medal for this service?

He also served in WWII from 1939 to 1946, but I don't remember ever seeing any medals. I think there was a mention or something about a "Star of France" or "Germany Star", but I was only a kid when he was demobbed and I can't remember the stories he told.

get in touch with your local British Legion, they'll give you all the help you want, and know who to get in touch with. Certainly, he should get Medals for the different campaigns he would have taken part in. Wouldn't know about the Earthquake though,

Thanks for that Lonnie. I didn't think of the British Legion. I'm waiting for information from the MoD Medal Office but there's a delay due to the 60th aniversary of D-Day and a big backlog of medal enquiries. I just thought I might get info on here quicker.

My dad would have been 99 years old now. I know he must have helped save lives in Quetta, even though he was injured in the knee. He died in 1969.
