I doubt there is a single attitude as we are all individuals. But IMO as for all mythical creatures, whilst the possibility of finding a previously unrecorded species is not impossible, it is unlikely / does not seem imminent anytime soon, for your Bigfoot legend.
Of course the Americans believe in them, just look at how many Americans actually believe that one day Jesus will walk down their streets!
Bigfoot is just another silly story, I'm sure if they existed some gun happy American would have found one and shot one by now.
When someone can show me a skeleton of one, (there must be thousands of them lying around in the American wilderness) then I will believe, until then it will be like the bible, just nonsense!
RATTER15: Not sure about the USA's attitude in general. There's some crazy theories sure enough but I don't want to influence this discussion too much by mentioning them. There's definitely a split between pro kill and anti kill groups. I'm curious to know why you'd lump Bigfoot in with Religion?
Naomi24 I would agree 100%.
This is all great research for my book, thanks to everyone for the input so far. Hopefully I'll get a few more responses too.
I don't have information that would influence the discussion but if I were to detail the many theories as to what Bigfooter is, we might end up focusing on them more than our own opinions.
Bigfoot ? we havn't seen one Yeti.
I class this as the same league as the Loch Ness Monster. I agree that IF it did exist someone would have found bones, skeleton, dung before now. Is there even any hair left on trees or rocks or dung samples that could be used to analyse DNA?
This subject reminds me of the Giant Panda which was rumoured to exist so much so that there were many expeditions to find one. Bear in mind, they don't exactly run very fast, are very stand out colours, and not shy of human presence, yet it apparently was to take sixty-five years to find one!
On that basis, I am open-minded to anything as yeti undiscovered!
