I doubt there is a single attitude as we are all individuals. But IMO as for all mythical creatures, whilst the possibility of finding a previously unrecorded species is not impossible, it is unlikely / does not seem imminent anytime soon, for your Bigfoot legend.

Is 'indifference' a valid description?
I would have said that they, the footprints have melted away, methyl!
Oooohhhh joggerjayne, that kind of talk has Nessie swimming up your drains to bite you on the bahookie as you tinkle!
that's how the Scots came up with the term 'wee,' Jayne......
Yikes!
What has Bigfoot been eating all these years, and where does it go to the loo?
The same place as bears I suppose, ayg !.

@ Eccles Cakes all the books I've read so far actually take the view that Bigfoot do indeed live in family groups, and that there is a gross misconception that Bigfoot is one solitary, mythical creature.
Cautionary tale for non-believers...
Charles Darwin was sent some orchids from Madagascar. He stated that, for a moth to obtain nectar from this flower, and carry out pollination, there must be a moth with a probiscus a foot long. He was scoffed at by entomologists, who said it was simply beyond credibility to imagine that any such insect could exist. It took another 160 years before the moth was actually seen, and filmed, feeding on the flower, confirming that Darwin had been correct all along.

I don't believe it because I think they would have found one by now. The famous film of one looks incredibly like a man in a gorilla suit.
The difference is that the moth is rather a small creature. That said, it took a while to find something as large and numerous as the Okapi to be discovered, at least by Westerners.

It's not impossible, but highly unlikely, that Bigfoot exists.
Yes, if Americans say it exists then I believe in it............................I am british and can't dare go against Americans.

So that's more crap that you believe in then.

So what do we know about the subject in general, and what are people basing their opinions of Bigfoot's existence on? thanks for the input so far everyone.
// what are people basing their opinions of Bigfoot's existence on //

Personally, the fact that there's loads of people looking for them, and no-one's found one yet.
It is inconceivable that this creature has not been identified before. It exists for the same Americans that think that they have been abducted by aliens in their past lives, and also the ones that think that planet earth has only existed for 600 years and ancient man chased dinosaurs for his dinner.

ie, the credulous.

Patent nonsense.
a joke
keyplus, prize for daftest answer of the day, and its still early
Oxford geneticist Bryan Sykes recently carried out an in-depth study to attempt to determine whether or not Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, or any of the other names this legendary creature is known by, exists. Several ‘believers’ in different areas of the world provided samples of what they thought was its hair which they’d found lying on the ground or hanging on bushes. The samples were tested under stringent laboratory conditions, but without exception all were found to have come from known animals. Channel 4 followed Professor Sykes’ progress in what proved to be a very interesting programme.

Question Author
I remember watching that, but does that conclusion mean that Yeti does not exist, or does it just mean that the hair was not from Yeti?
