I am trying to find out if it is possible to replace a old boiler with a conbi boiler without replaceing rads and pipe work.

nicolajane, the answer is " yes ", ( with a few provisos ). I would advise you to contact three Corgi registered engineers to provide quotes, giving details of what work would be included along with the combi boiler installation.


It is probable that the only parts of the system that will require replacement are the radiator valves. If this is the case, ensure that the quote includes for the cleansing of the original system.

Another thing you may have to consider is that many older boilers were supplied from the gas meter via a 15mm supply. Most modern boilers (and particularly combi boilers) need a larger, 22mm supply. This should not cause too much upheaval if your gas meter and boiler are near to each other, but may cause a problem if they are not.
