Putting on weight when you give up smoking is common. Your gut acts more efficiently, which means you absorb more sustenance from what you eat, and some people tend to use snacks or sweets as a substitute for smoking - which means they eat more.

Try getting more excercise, eat breakfast every day and avoid snacking between meals ... oh and watch your portion sizes too !
Yes, I put 2 stone on but went to slimming world when I got totally pi$$ed off and lost all the excess weight. Feel fab, healthy & richer!! Win, win!!

congrats on losing the weight. my normal weight ranges from 8 stone - 9 stone.. heaviest ive ever been is now... even heavier than at full term pregnancy...its getting me down, but ive had a death in the family also, so eating to feel better... good luck to you though..i hope i will feel better about myself again soon too.
Well done fp - you'll feel the benefits of stopping smoking. As huderon said, some people snack on sweet things as a substitute for the lack of nicotine going into your body. You don't have to go on a strict diet, but must exercise to shift more calories than you're taking in. Best of luck.
