My back gate is secured with a padlock, and I didn't use it for a while. Unfortunately, I now can't get it to open at all. Have tried industrial amounts of WD40, but can't get the key to turn. Is there another solution?

I don`t know if it would work with a rusty padlock but we used to have a trick for opening padlocks at work that wouldn`t open. Hold a cup of boiling water up to it and dunk the padlock in. The metal expands and I`ve seen it work but as I say, it might not work with rust. Worth a try though.
I saw my son get a padlock open be giving it a good whack with a sturdy hammer.
I once left a rusty nail overnight in coca cola. It was just as rusty the next day!
Try it again tomorrow.

The oil/WD40 will have worked overnight and it might open easily.

Perhaps wedge the padlock upside down to allow the oil to penetrate.
too many answers on this trivial subject. hack it open with whatever. jjcon
You might find the chain easier to cut than the padlock whichcould be hardened steel.
I know that it may sound obvious but there is usually a very small hole on the bottom of a padlock, if you haven't already tried put some releasing oil in the lock through the small hole so it reaches the workings inside.
Gness would be around soon with her chainsaw.
