Does anyone know of a program that will add certain icons to the desktop when it's run? Preferably free. You have just a few shortcuts on your desktop - music, internet, etc. for example. Then, you click on that shortcut and it adds shortcuts to your desktop for that category. There's one at my school called RM topic selector but I don't think you can just download that

what you can do is create a folder on your hard drive and put the icons in there, then all you need to do is make a link to the folder. Or you could create a .BAT batch script which would do something similar i.e. create links on you desktop.
You can add any shortcut to your desktop. For example Word: start > programs > right click "Microsoft Word" then "send to..." Desktop (create shortcut). Or via windows explorer: find then right click C:\program files\microsoft office\office(10)\winword.exe and send to... desktop (create shortcut). You can do this with any executable application. You can cut and paste shorcuts from one place to another but they will only work if the target is correct. For example the above shortcuts won't work if you don't have Word installed or have it installed to a different location.
