A Strange Cold!

Woke up this morning with a streaming cold, annoying but hardly life-threatening. However, this afternoon, my right nostril is very itchy (left one seems quite clear) and it is like drops of water dripping out, non-stop. Lucky I am at home , and getting through Kleenex like mad. What is this? Why? Have taken paracetamol, and a Sinex spray.

I am, sadly, a smoker, and am very catarrghal (sorry for spelling) usually for half an hour every morning. My sinuses seem ok.

Thanks for any thoughts...

It sounds very much like an allergy, although affecting only one nostril is unusual.

I do not know your age, but if you are 70 years of age or more, it may well be rhinitis associated with age.

Continue on the regime that you have instigated and monitor the situation over the next 4 days.

Thanks Sqad, I have read your advice many times, you are invaluable to CB. I don't think I have any allergies, I am 64, and in generally excellent health. I did suffer badly from hay fever from the age of 8 until about 45. Now I just get very sore eyes sometimes. But whatever, the problem seems to be going away. Had this before, just lasted 24 hours. Just don't know what all this watery substance is!
Thanks mightymouse for your compliments, but I am sure that AB would get on just as well without me.
The clear fluid doesn't indicate any serious problem and will clear.
don't you believe it sqad you would be missed!
any valentine cards from your A/B girls?

Thanks again to Sqad, and for the other amusing comments! Feeling so much better now, the dripping seems to have stopped (hope that is NOT too much info!!!), off to bed now....3 fence panels in front garden just smashed, like a hurricane here in Surrey! Grollocks!
