What is the proper name for them, and what causes them exactly? This is a follow on from my previous post concerning my itchy lumps that I first thought was a reaction to dust mites. After consulting a doctor he said that they were heat lumps, in fact he said 'What do you think they are?', I said 'You tell me!'. He presecribed this cream to calm them down but to no avail, getting quite worried now as I really can't sleep as my body is so itchy! They are heat lumps on my body, and look a little like blisters on my hands. Someone must know something, surely? A very itchy Ant

They don't really sound like heat lumps I would'nt have thought that ( if you live in the UK) you would be suffering with them this time of year .If your doctor said "What do you think they are"he obviously does'nt know go back there and ask to be referred to a Dermatologist or Allergy expert I've had heat lumps but I've never had blisters on my hands with it .
heat lumps are often referred to as urticaria by our medical freinds ( though this is a little woolly). The little blisters thing sounds like eczema/ contact dermatitis. Normally a steroid cream such as daktacort will calm it. however you need to address the problem....have you recently changed diet? or washing powders? both of these can lead to reactions. IF it becomes certain that this is not an allergy, then scabies is a good second guess, particularly if you have or work near small children (natures perfect plague rat). You do need to see a dermatologist. insist, in fact.
I agree with incitatus, sounds more like contact dermatitis than urticaria. You can buy hydrocortisone ointment over the counter but the chemist tends to interrogate you as to why you want it. Go back to the GP and insist they give you some thing for it. I've had eczema on my hands for years and its horrible Let us know how you get on
i sympathise with your problem. Last summer I discovered heat lumps on my penis. I found that a mild strength thrush cream worked wonders and now its as good as new!!
