I've only just heard of this today. Keep an eye on your dog, especially if you walk in woodland.

We've had it here in the new forest since last year, it was very worrying when they didn't even know what it was. Fortunately now most vets will know about it but owners need to be vigilant and regularly check their dogs over thoroughly for any signs if they've been walking in Heath and woodland.

Thanks for the warning pasta. Were off walking in the Yorkshire Dales next week, so I'll be extra vigilant.
I've also heard of it as the New Forest is not that far away. Very worrying for dog owners, especially as it seems there is no cure. I'm not sure how early spotting and a trip to the vet will help?
Thankfully VERY rare , but worrying , as I understand it there is no cure .
Less than 20 cases so far but all fatal.
Not all cases are fatal, when it first came up last year there were 3 or 4 cases initially and one of them recovered. Official advise is to get to the vet as soon as possible if there is anything that could help then it's worth a try or at least not leave the poor thing to suffer and die in pain.

From what I've read, some have died...but not all. That's why its important to get your dog to the vet if you see anything suspicious.
about 2/3 have died. the scary bit is they don't know what causes it or how to cure it. The dogs who have survived have been given antibiotics and IV hydration but it s a question of hope and prayer :(.
