A desktop icon regularly appears on my desktop which appears to be as a result of some kind of fault but I haven't a clue what it is. It looks like a window (as in windows software) on a blank page with the top right hand corner turned down. Does anyone have a clue what this is?

Its probably the bug in outlook or outlook express that places an icon on your desktop if an entry is made in your address book does it have a tilde ~ in it as well? I think it does from memory
Sorry, there should have been a full stop after "book"
If you want to see the link I posted removed the </p> from the address bar. Somehow it was pasted with this in it

Confab, thanks for your help. Yes, there is a tilde (underneath the icon). I went straight to the link you provided but I need to study that in more detail. Just to be reassured, though, the bug you describe in your first post isn't a virus is it?

No its not a virus and its nothing at all to worry about. Microsoft know all about it as it was their error. Most people just delete the icon.
