I have been on HRT for 5 years which has done wonders for the night sweats, hot flushes and the evil mood swings, but last October the prescibed HRT I was taking was unavailable and I was given an alternative, its doing the job of keeping the hot flushes etc away but I have put on alot of weight and I haven't had a period since December. I went to see my GP this Monday ( 27th ) he said that this alternative HRT does tend to stop the periods and adds weight gain, he gave me another presciption for the original HRT which I was taking but the chemist I use has told me that it is unavailable. I haven't contacted my GP about this but I was thinking about finishing this pack I 'm taking which will be Friday and take some herbal alternative of some kind, I was wondering if any ladies out there have any good over the counter remedies I could take. Many thanks in advance. xxx :-)

Igave up on HRT after my symptoms became dreadfully erratic- and so did I ! now take evening promrose and starflower oil daily- seems to keep most of the problems at bay- and I have a friend who swears by Sage for hot flushes

I used to take Menopace . HRT made me feel rotten.Plus when I found out what they make some of it from that made me feel even worse ! I also used to take black cohosh which really helped with the dreaded sweating and hot flushes. As these are natural supplements they do take a while to kick in but I had good results from taking them.

I'm on hrt was on premarin till I found out how it was made now I'm on progynova it's natural one and I'm great no probs
