OK so I eat meat but I also adore animals. I went into Tesco for my Sunday joint today, they had some leg of lamb on special offer. I started reading the label and saw 'Date Slaughtered' and 'Where butchered' .. Or words to that effect. I felt quite sick, so bought a chicken instead. Too much information ?

2sp I couldn't do that, look after something then eat it -hypocritical I know but it would be like eating my cat...
Any parasite is killed off with cooking and I'm sure there is more adrenaline in a farmed animal at the abattoir than a pigeon sitting in a tree in my garden.
hc not true -if you like your meat rare or medium done then parasites are not killed off -you may have a tape worm lol!
I know I don't have tapeworms - I'm too fat.
I can't bear meat that's not well done - bloody or pink meat is gross.
I like my meat cooked to buggery but not burnt, even been known to microwave a steak to make sure.
Sherr! What a waste of good meat.
But each to their own, I guess. :D
I don't think it's hypocritical, ClaryS, it's not something that everyone can face. Breeding, rearing and ultimately eating an animal isn't easy. Contrary to popular conception, most farmers have the utmost respect for livestock and animals in general.

And I like my steak bleeding into my chips...
ruination of excellence ↑ .....the one condition, that the meat is properly rested.
I don't eat much meat and I am a very fussy eater anyway (I would be a right pain to cater for).
Personally I'm a veggie so I don't eat meat at all.
However I love a "Lamb Doner", there's no meat in that---right?
Don't understand why it's called lamb!!!!
Re salmon. I find it difficult to find non farmed salmon in the supermarket. I'm suspecting they don't do it.
