I know many of the people who post on AB are very keen to keep their identity secret (understandably so), so thought it would be a good idea to post a link to an article I just read that highlights a possible threat to your anonymity.

Luckily it is easy to opt out, the main concern is that not everyone reads all the tech stuff that some of us do so they will be unaware that Google are implementing this 'feature'.

I got a notification of that on Gmail this morning; they did say how to opt out. Which I suppose I should do, though I don't actually share any information with them at all.
When I click on the actual link all I get is a blank page.
try again, Caran, it's there. Maybe your browser is banning it as a popup?
Have tried it three times, each time a blank page. I hate this iPad with a vengeance.
I have just done it too, thanks daffy I would never have known this.
I've opted out. If they want me to endorse anything they can pay me.
TY, Daffy654
actually, now that I've tried it, I just get an invitation to join Google+. Perhaps as I'm not a member none of this applies to me - anybody know?

Do you subscribe to any Google service at all jno, such as YouTube or Gmail? I think if you don't have any association with them whatsoever there is no need to opt out.
only Gmail, but there's probably nothing I do there that gives them something to sell, so maybe they don't need me.
Thank you Daffy.
thanks for the info, i've opted out ... not that they'd want to use my picture for advertising
Thanks Daff, just checked mine, it was off already.
Done, thanks.
I am another guilty of not RTFM.
It's for Google+ though isn't it - not regular Google users? They haven't got a photo of me anyway (fortunately)!
...if you have Google as your homepage, they can take a screenshot of you!
