Yep, tis, but I still don't think there's any need to be so derogatory with replies on it.

If it wasn't such a wishy-washy, left-leaning,liberal,muesli-munching site joko would be the one getting a warning.

well as some figured out - and some didn't ... but thought they had - i was being sarcastic and provoking - but not in the way a few of you took it.
i expected a few huffs about it though ... because it is a silly comparison isn't it? makes no sense whatsoever.
it would be very strange and frustrating if people did think like this.

it was not a serious question and does require a serious answer or knowledge about the ins and outs of the IRA

it was about skin colour.
and how idiotic it is that so many are suspicious of people with brown skin, assuming they are all muslims, asylum seekers, foreigners and terrorists, or terrorist supporters, or want sharia law, or agree with honour killings etc etc etc.

my point was, people do not judge white people, or irish people, based on the actions of one terrorist organisation - and they never have - so why does it happen so much with people with various shades of brown skin?

/my point was, people do not judge white people, or irish people, based on the actions of one terrorist organisation - and they never have/

Yes they have. In the 70's we were always viewed with suspicion.

fair enough ummm
/In the 70's we were always viewed with suspicion./

True Ummm

but in my personal experience there were more than a few British-Irish people who had lived in mainland UK a long time and were; law abiding, respectable, integrated, civilised and lovely people...

but who were willing (when and if asked) to help out The Boys n some way or other if only with logistics or storage

which is a worrying precedent when we consider the future with a similarly 'integrated' British Muslim community

I imagine that most of the people in the countries you’re talking about have never heard of the IRA – possibly because its actions have no adverse effect on the rest of the world. Having said that, many of those people aren’t averse to stereotyping anyone with white skin as a degenerate westerner. Contrary to popular belief, stereotyping is not one-sided.
Zeuhl - That is very true, sadly.

We (not us personally) used to have collections where people came round collecting 'for the boys'
i suspect that many countries, peoples abroad wouldn't know what IRA means, let alone know about Ireland and it's people, history.
I didn't view my Irish friends, colleagues with suspicion, most had no political as far as i knew, affiliations whatsoever. Besides Irish people got killed in these atrocities. So no, not all Irish people would have been considered terrorists, but some were, and some killed lots of innocent people.
The IRA had a lot of publicity in the USA but little anywhere else in the world.
Most places with a white minority would barely have heard of them.
even a white majority, apart from some deluded Americans who would know in the USA about the IRA, not many.
They think we're all Christians, I can tell you that.

As an English Roman - everyone used to think I w as an IRA sympathiser wh used to tee non violent little me off....
the filter q is : where did you go to school ?
taking advantage pf the fat we have denominsational education in this country
I think this is a veiled question (veil - geddit)
about Muslims and whether you look at one
and think 'this is one of the most kissable fun minorities I can think of'

I dont usually...

boom boom !
Boom boom - how inappropriate...lol
