Not really a miracle tip but Sugar Soap works for me - 2 bowls, one with the diluted Sugar soap in and one with clean water. Use seperate cloths for applying and rinsing/drying and don't get the wall too wet!
Try an ordinary pencil eraser. Depending on the nature of the stains it may remove them

Ok, please forgive me but what is sugar soap?!
It's a soap that looks like sugar! It's main property being that it cuts through nicotine, grease etc but it doesn't foam at all. You use it prior to decorating as it provides a good 'key' for new paint etc.
You can get it from any DIY shop, be about 2 a tub.
touch it up with paint? thats what i do always have a spare tin of paint

Touching it up with paint was the last resort! This is what we have done in the past but it is a pain in the wotsit so was hoping for an easier option! But thank you anyway soconfused!
